"The Mysterious Cook" is a short film with a culinary-romantic twist. It is a story of a humble Chinese journalist, who has rediscovered his inspiration and taste for life in beautiful Italy The film by celebrated Italian director Giacomo Arrigoni is starring Esmeralda Spadea (卫艾达) and Yoon C. Joyce. It was created as a part of the TAICHI project, supported by the EU.

The TAICHI project

TAICHI is an informational program (co-funded by the European Union) whose aim is to promote the knowledge and the use of European olive oil in China and Taiwan. The three main consortia of Italian olive growers, CNO (as leader), UNAPOL and UNASCO, support and finance the program.

Why extra virgin olive oil?

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality oil extracted with chemical-free and purely mechanical means under controlled thermal conditions. It is believed to have many positive effects on human health. Because of its high smoke point of 210 °C, it can be used for frying in addition to using it for replacing other, less healthy oils in baking and in salad dressings and dips.
